New User Training Guide

Our website divides courses into eight categories. The easiest way to complete your trainings is in the order in which they are listed on the 'My Courses' page. The guide below will help determine which of these courses you are required to take (depending on your role in your agency or continuum of care) and which you are able to skip. At the bottom of the page there is information on annual updates.

Each section of this page shows the required trainings based on user roles. If you do not know what your user role is, please contact your agency or system administrator. If you do not know who your agency or system administrator is, contact your direct supervisor.

Please refer to this key before looking at your user role below.

Trainings Required for System Administrators:

Grant Specific trainings are only required if your CoC is receiving the grant that relates to the training.

Trainings Required for Agency Administrators:

Grant Specific trainings are only required if your agency is receiving the grant that relates to the training. Check with your System Administrator if you are unsure.

Trainings Required for Agency and Continuum of Care Leaders:

The only required courses in the ServicePoint Modules category are FundManager Introduction and FundManager Training.

Trainings Required for Basic Users:

Basic User is someone who IS a ServicePoint user and is not in an administrator role.

Grant Specific trainings are only required if your agency is receiving the grant that relates to the training. Check with your Agency Administrator if you are unsure.

Trainings Required for Intake Staff:

An Intake Staff worker is someone who does client intake or interviews (including Case Managers) but is NOT a ServicePoint user. This role also may include anyone who collects, reviews, or discusses private client information.

Required Annual Updates

Some courses require that you retake them once per year as a refresher in order to continue your usage of the HMIS. The list of these courses is found below:

The Advanced Privacy and Data Sharing and Establishing Visibility courses are only required for Agency and System Administrators. For the remaining courses, please refer to your user type above to see if they are required.

We have changed the procedures for completing annual updates. We have now created six brand new courses that mirror each of the courses required for an update. Doing this will allow you to generate a new certificate when you complete the update. These courses are in the 700 category, beginning with 701. Please note that in order for these courses to appear, you must first have completed the initial training.
